Summer  is usually the time of year we break out this recipe for homemade lemonade concentrate, but this lemonade recipe is so good, you’ll probably want to use it year-round.

The lemonade concentrate can be mixed ahead and stored in the refrigerator, so it’s a perfect make-ahead beverage for large gatherings. I recommend that you purchase a large decorative decanter for serving. You’ll use it again and again. Make sure you check  product reviews and get one with a sturdy spout so it will last for years. There’s nothing prettier on a serving table than a huge decanter full of lemonade with the sun glinting through the ice and sliced lemons.

Your guests just may find this lemonade too pretty to drink.

Another fun option for party drinks is to use more than one decanter and serve several beverages. Your decanters don’t need to match. The goal  is to make the drink look pretty and refreshing, so don’t be afraid to add “garnish” and while sliced lemons and limes are a favorite standard, don’t hesitate to try something new. Float cranberries in your lemonade in winter. Consider dropping in a few edible flowers. Mini purple pansies would look amazing!

The family home, built in 1901 has been a place for family gatherings for five generations. Today, Grandma Joyce and Grandpa Jim maintain the home, a large vegetable garden, and enough flowers that the two of them have instituted a "don't ask, don't tell" policy with regard to the nursery and bedding plant budget.
