This is our go-to summer recipe. You just can’t go wrong with it. For us, the hardest thing about it is remembering to put bananas in the freezer far enough beforehand that we have some ready to go when a craving hits. And there are even some added bonuses!
1: You now no longer have to wonder what to do with your brown, splotchy bananas.
2: It’s healthier than a regular milkshake! You could even say it’s good for you! (Peanut butter has lots of protein… Right?)
We’ve recently been avoiding lactose based products, but that can be tricky. We just hate to say no to ice cream! No matter where we go always an 85% guarantee that there will be ice cream involved, especially during the summer. Green smoothies are just not the same. BUT! I’ve found that I can sometimes talk my hubby out of a trip to the grocery store to get a “King Kong Kone” for this one. So that’s a huge bonus for me.

Cuisine: Dessert
Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas broken into 1 inch chunks and frozen (at least 3-4 hours, but you can stock up ahead of time when a banana gets over ripe by peeling them and freezing them in advance. They are great for Frozen Smoothies of all kinds.)
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 ½ cup almond milk (my preference) or water
Instructions
- Blend all three ingredients together until creamy.
